Summer Program – August Technique Bootcamp

Information:
Next Step Dance Studio is excited to offer our students a full summer program for technique training. Students will experience every type of technique that is important for dance.

The Bootcamp includes:

Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of dance and technique. It strengthens dancer’s muscles and flexibility for safe dance training. Through ballet, students learn how to use their muscles correctly in turns and leaps. They strengthen the muscles in their feet, legs, and core and become better technical dancers.

Progressing Ballet Technique
A new fun approach to conditioning for dance. Dancers use Pilates and yoga fit balls to learn Ballet and further strengthen their legs and core. The fit ball helps the students understand the placement of their hips, shoulders, arms, and feet. Learning how to turnout safely, stretch safely, and make stronger bodies.

Jumps & Turns
A class completely focused on across the floor exercises. Students will work on all their leaps, pirouettes, and flexibility. They will practice advanced combinations across the floor to increase their knowledge of different jazz and lyrical tricks.

Horton & Graham
In our summer program, we’ve also included Modern classes with both Horton and Graham technique. Horton technique is an anatomical approach to dance. It includes flexibility, coordination, strength, and spatial awareness, building strong bodies and dancers. Graham technique, created by Martha Graham, is the cornerstone for Modern dance technique and also the basis for contemporary technique. It focuses on the back, and the strength and movements of the back and how it relates to dance.

Conditioning
It is very important for dancers to condition their bodies through exercise. This class is a workout class to make their bodies stronger so they can jump higher, have better balance, and have stronger cores.

Pointe
In the summer bootcamp program, students who are already on their Pointe shoes will be able to take the optional Pointe class on the schedule.

Acrobatics
There is also an optional Acrobatics class in the summer bootcamp program for students at all levels beginner and advanced.

Stretch
Students will also have the option of taking a stretch class. This is the perfect extra class for students who want to take an extra class, but either aren’t on Pointe yet or aren’t interested in Acrobatics. Stretch class is open to all students in the Technique Bootcamp.

COVID RESPONSE

Instead of a summer program this year, we are extending our regular Fall/Spring program through summer 2020 so we can finish out the school year. We will be having a showcase at the end of August so the students can perform what they have been working on all year and wear their costumes. We hope to be open again soon, thank you for your support.
